Emmanuel Theological College is pleased to announce that we are now a registered Higher Education Provider with the Office for Students! We are thrilled by all that this news will mean for students and potential students in the future.
To be included on the OfS register of providers shows that we meet the @officestudents requirements for course quality, academic standards, student support, student protection and much more. The process towards inclusion on the register is rigorous, and included an on-sight visit over several days by experts within the higher education sector. The OfS is satisfied that – amongst other things – Emmanuel provides well-designed courses that deliver a high-quality academic experience for all our students, offers quality student support from admissions through to completion, and awards qualifications that hold their value over time. The OfS continues to monitor our work moving forward.
“I am absolutely delighted by this news” said The Dean of Emmanuel Theological College, The Revd Canon Dr Michael Leyden. “Inclusion on the OfS register of providers allows us to extend our work to welcome greater numbers of students from diverse backgrounds onto our degree programmes – including our new Youth and Children’s Ministry programme. Applicants for our Durham University validated awards now have access to government backed student loans to enable their study with us. This is so important to fulfilling our vision to equip the whole people of God for the whole mission of God today and in the future.”
Emmanuel provides opportunities for people from all walks of life to study Christian theology in a supportive, faith-based, and worshipful environment of the highest educational quality. We offer both BA and MA degrees validated by the university of Durham Common Awards Programme. “The College’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as the strong emphasis on personal and professional formation is at the centre of our ethos as a Christ-centred, Hope-filled, and Mission-orientated community,” said The Right Revd Philip North, Bishop of Blackburn and Chair of the College’s Board of Trustees, “we are especially excited to welcome students from September 2025 who might not otherwise have been able to join with us and to journey with them as they grow their knowledge, understanding, and skills for their future work.”
