Prior to joining the team at Emmanuel, Amy was the Lay Training Officer for the Diocese of Blackburn, where she helped to pioneer and establish the Authorised Lay Ministry training pathway across the Diocese. Amy grew up in Australia but has lived in the UK longer than she lived in the Southern Hemisphere. She discovered her calling to theological education through a long and winding road that started with a music degree followed by training to be a primary school teacher, then through attending Bible School at a local church where she realised she was called to teach theology to grown-ups. After several years working for and eventually leading that Bible School, she left to pursue an MA in theology, before embarking on a PhD exploring the leader-as-shepherd metaphor in John’s Gospel. Amy has a passion for teaching about leadership from a theological perspective and desires to see healthy leaders lead others in ways that result in the flourishing of the Body of Christ as it grows up into maturity.

Outside of her work and study life, Amy finds joy in creativity through Bible journaling and making paper flowers, along with tending her new and growing garden. Her husband Richard and her family of fur-babies keep her company on life’s journey.
